Abstract: Lung diseases are one of poor equine athletic performance. Therefore, early detection and diagnosis are necessary, as well as the rapid implementation of appropriate treatment. This treatment, if possible, will result in a favorable outcome for maintaining the integrity and proper functioning of the lower airways. This paper describes the causes of pneumonia in foals, clinical sings, diagnostic methods, treatment, prognosis and preventive measures. In addition, two clinical cases of thoroughbred racing foals are presented. The diagnosis was pyogranulomatous pneumonia. They were treated with antibiotics that act agains Rhodococcusequi, and both cases evolved favorably.

Autor(es): Velazquez Iglesias, Victoria Belen
Abstract: In veterinary medicine, emergencies are common occurrences.
One of these is gastric dilatation/torsion/volvulus. This condition cannot be classified as urgent or emergency until the patient is evaluated, as its classification depends on the patients general condition, the time elapsed, and the symptoms at the time of presentation. Primary care requires a series of maneuvers to be performed quickly, such as gastric trocarization to promote decompression and release of accumulated gas, allowing for improved breathing. This is especially important when performing the complementary methods of choice (for example, x-rays) without running the risk of choking or worsening the patients decompensation. In addition, aggressive fluid therapy should be initiated, with catheterization of a forelimb (for example, cephalic vein) and a hindlimb (for example, saphenous vein) to administer specific medications such as antiarrhythmics, analgesics, replacement solutions, and support solutions more quickly and effectively. A patent line is also provided so that the patient can be anesthetized without problems at the time of surgery.
Finally, the resolution of the condition is completed through a surgical procedure that is usually performed successfully according to statistics (Song, 2020). It should be noted that the animal cannot enter surgery fully stabilized, since in these emergency cases, time is of the essence. The more time passes, the more the clinical condition worsens. Therefore, efforts will be made to achieve a rapid resolution in a short period of time.
Despite this, a large percentage of deaths occur during the postoperative period. This is because a cascade of pathophysiological conditions has already been activated by the time the condition presents, requiring exhaustive and ongoing postoperative monitoring.
This article will outline the appropriate management that should be followed from the patients admission to the clinic until discharge.
At the end of the article, a clinical case of gastric dilatation-torsion volvulus will be presented, presenting the management of the patient, along with a discussion and final conclusions.

Abstract: Physiotherapy has emerged as an essential discipline in both human and veterinary medicine, playing a crucial role in the recovery of patients with osteomuscular and neuromuscular pathologies. In animals, particularly canines, equines, and felines, frequent injuries such as joint fractures, myopathies, and tendon disorders have led to the development of specific therapeutic strategies. These include pain management, functional restoration, and reintegration into daily activities. Over the last decade, veterinary physiotherapy has gained greater relevance, integrating interventions such as physical agents, therapeutic exercises, and manual therapy. As a result, its effectiveness has been widely recognized in both clinical and research settings, establishing it as a fundamental tool for improving animal welfare. From injury rehabilitation to promoting optimal mobility, animal physiotherapy combines knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, biomechanics, and ethology to ensure the overall well-being of animals. The following article is a report on three clinical cases obtained during the Professional Practice Orientation (OPP) program for the Veterinary Medicine program. These three canine patients, after presenting with osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal pathologies, underwent physical therapy with magnetic fields, ultrasound, and phototherapy to promote recovery.

The research work and field study was carried out in a local slaughter plant,

measurements were carried out with a digital pH meter (YY-103 series, model
YY-1030) and a “Testo” thermometer. ” model TS-0560 1113 in the longissimus dorsis

Abstract: This work addresses the implementation of a control plan against Bovine Genital
Campylobacteriosis (BGC) in a cattle breeding establishment in the Pichi Mahuida department,
in the province of Río Negro. The study arises as a response to significant reproductive losses
in the herd, caused mainly by this venereal disease, characterized by its negative impact on
reproductive and economic efficiency. BGC, caused by Campylobacter spp., affects fertility by
causing repeated estrus, embryonic death and abortions, which translate into a longer service
season. The control plan included pre- and post-service diagnoses, sampling of bulls,
elimination of infected individuals, adjustments in the duration of the service season, and
systematic records of reproductive indicators. Variables such as pregnancy percentages,
pregnancy distribution, reproductive losses, calving and weaning percentages were evaluated;
using tools such as digital rectal examination, ultrasound and laboratory analysis. The result of
the implementation of the control plan was the absence of reproductive losses in the cycle under

Autor(es): Florentina del Carmen, Cofre
Abstract: Colic is one of the oldest terms used in medicine and referred to pain in the colon. In modern medicine it is used for pain of abdominal origin, it does not determine a disease, but a set of signs. This syndrome is one of the most important medical and economic problems in equine clinic (Calderon, 2023). Colic syndrome is characterized by altered gastrointestinal motility, which manifests as abdominal pain and systemic involvement. The main causes of pain are hypermotility and distension; this includes direct pressure on the inflamed digestive mucosa, muscle distension or contraction, traction of mesenteric insertions and damage to the peritoneum. The general objective of the following work is to produce a monograph in order to create a practical summary to recognize and diagnose true colic with a resolutive approach both in the clinic and in surgical referral. The relevance of the work lies in the increase in the incidence of this syndrome due to the domestication of the species in which the ethology of this species is not respected. The diagnosis must be made to elucidate the cause and the mechanisms that produce the syndrome. Based on this, the possible therapeutic measures, medical or medical-surgical, are determined and a prognosis is established. The diagnosis must have a complete anamnesis of the animal and then continue with the inspection, evaluation of systemic involvement, temperature, abdominal auscultation, digital rectal examination, nasogastric tube and if necessary the following can be performed: endoscopy, abdominal paracentesis, X-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopy, biopsy, as well as fecal examination. A description of the general treatment of the syndrome was made taking into account hypopressive agents, analgesic therapy with the aim of relieving pain to facilitate the examination prioritizing the well-being of the animal. The implementation of fluid therapy in the gastroenteric patient with the objective of restoring intravascular volume by improving cardiac output and tissue perfusion. Development of disorders at different levels (stomach, GI and GI). Introduction to surgical maneuvers and finally the description of two clinical cases.

Título: Diarrea Neonatal en guachera
Autor(es): Rocha Burgos, Karen Johana
Abstract: Neonatal diarrhea in calves (NDC) is a complex, multifactorial disease of newborns.
Clinically, it can present from 12 hours postpartum to the first 35 days of life and is characterized
by the excretion of watery and profuse feces, leading to progressive dehydration, acidosis, and, in
severe cases, death within a few days. Mortality rates during the rearing phase can vary from 1 to
50 %, and neonatal diarrhea accounts for 40 to 70 % of these deaths. Similarly, for production to
be profitable, the normal mortality rate at this stage should be around 5%, with the ideal being for
establishments to achieve a mortality rate of 2% to 3%. Generally, the highest number of deaths
occur within the first 21 days of life, with the most common age for treatment being between 9 and
12 days old. NDC has been linked to over 50 % of calf deaths. On dairy farms, it is a significant
cause of death and economic losses, both direct (treatment and mortality) and indirect (for example,
individuals who are part of genetic enhancement programs, with the aim of improving and
increasing future productive and reproductive value). The main objective of this work is to analyze
and delve into the causes of neonatal diarrhea in dairy herds to achieve early diagnosis, appropriate
treatments, and expand preventive measures. The pathology is defined, as well as the risk factors
and possible etiological causes, explaining the pathophysiology of NDC and the most common
signs according to the etiology. Possible diagnostic methods, including laboratory tests, are
described, and potential etiological treatments are developed, along with palliative care such as
fluid therapy, which should be administered to increase the chances of recovery and survival of
affected animals. Finally, preventive measures that should be taken to minimize the incidence of
NDC are described, concluding that prevention is the best tool available to achieve the stated
objective.

Autor(es): Giovanini, Gabriela
Abstract: The final degree project designed for the veterinary medicine degree entitled “Acute Respiratory Distress as a Sign of Mycoplasma Haemofelis in a Feline Patient” is presented below. The main objective of this study is to deepen the understanding of how Mycoplasma Haemofelis can affect respiratory diseases in felines and to consider this pathology at the time of diagnosis. For this reason, I begin by analyzing what respiratory difficulty or dyspnea is, how it is classified, how it can be identified in the clinic, the difference with respiratory distress, its causes and its physiopathogenesis. Then, there is an examination of the correct gas exchange and the disorders that may occur. For instance, hypoxia due to a decrease in red blood cells (anemia), being the pathophysiological mechanism by which Mycoplasma Haemofelis produces signs that imitate diseases settled in the respiratory system that manifests as acute respiratory distress. In order to illustrate this, the clinical case of a four-year-old male feline is presented. The patient arrived at the clinic with signs of acute respiratory distress and, through complementary tests, was diagnosed with Mycoplasma Haemofelis. The feline was treated and the results showed an improvement as regards its health. In sum, the importance of this study is to demonstrate its implications in veterinary clinical practice since the lack of recognition of Mycoplasma Haemofelis as a respiratory disease mimic agent can lead to misleading diagnoses, ineffective treatments and an important increase in morbidity and mortality with respect to the affected felines.
