Resumen: This conference will explore, drawing on Cameroonian philosopher Achille Mbembe’s concept of necropolitics, how it constrains the possibilities for indigenous youth activism in northern Patagonia, Argentina. Based on ethnographic fieldwork within Mapuche organizations in the province of Río Negro, the aim is to analyze how national and regional formations of otherness organize diversity through intersected dimensions, including ethnicity, class, gender, and age. These formations shape different life courses, dictating not only how life should be lived but also how death should be inhabited. Since the 1990s, indigenous youth activism has been challenging these frameworks. However, there is still an open debate on the extent to which death has become an inevitable horizon for young Mapuche men, turning it into a concept that can only be resignified
