Disnea en felinos

Abstract

It is inherent to medicine in general and veterinary medicine in particular, to pay special attention to pathologies that may compromise the vital functions of the organism, with the aim of trying to prevent their appearance, offer an early diagnosis along with timely treatment, and thus to be able to offer the patient the best possible quality of life, especially in cases of chronic diseases and / or those that leave sequelae. Respiratory diseases in cats are very important, due to the severity in their clinical presentation, and because they generally only have palliative treatment, added to the fact that they present severe complications for the life of the animal. Dyspnea is considered to be the inadequate respiratory effort in the animal, either in relation to the frequency, amplitude or moment of the respiratory cycle. Usually in veterinary medicine, respiratory distress is called dyspnea, which is actually a subjective sensation suffered by the patient, that is, typical of human medicine (Gómez et al., 2017). In this final work it is proposed to make a bibliographic review of the causes of dyspnea in felines, which cause difficult, painful breathing and great anxiety for the animal, its course, treatments, evolution and prognosis, being in most cases reserved to serious. It is complemented with the report of a clinical case of Respiratory Insufficiency that was attended during my Orientation in Professional Practices at the Hospital Escuela de Veterinaria Sede Alto Valle y Valle Medio.
