Enfermedades respiratorias y digestivas en potrillos durante la lactancia

Abstract

Respiratory and digestive disorders in horses, in the lactation stage, are those that condition growth and future sports performance. Therefore, they constitute the main factor with the greatest economic impact in the production of competition horses. This report will briefly detail the Professional Orientation and Practice (OPP), a subject that is required to obtain the bachelor's degree. Then we will continue with the description of the Haras, where the OPP was carried out. In which they had the opportunity to participate and learn about reproductive, productive and sanitary management. Observing cases of diarrhea and upper respiratory tract disease, helped the choice of the title of the following report. Because the etiological diagnosis was not achieved, possible Digestive and Respiratory Diseases that affect during lactation (weaning at the 5th or 6th month of life) were searched. Since no studies were found to determine the prevalence and incidence in the Argentine territory, we resorted to reviewing the world bibliography. The bibliographic review is presented in order respecting the Diseases mentioned in the Tables in Annex I. According to the type of etiology, in each of the devices, the latter being less frequent. It will begin by exposing the most common pathologies, according to their types of causes and the age with the greatest impact on the foal's life; some include susceptibility up to the year.
