Abstract

This work will try to condense the period climate of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries from two singular and at the same time paradigmatic trajectories of the national elite and that marked in a very particular way the evolution of the Argentine University System: those of Joaquín V. González and his son Julio V. González. To this end, we will first review the historical context that gave them framework, then we will stop at the life stories of both as two members of the intellectual and political elite and briefly describe the networks and exchanges that both carried out, and then identify them as members. of the generation of 1896 and 1918 and, finally, we will review how that journey specifically impacted with the vision that both had of the Argentine University System and how they reflected it in their professional careers and in their intellectual production.
