Trayectoria de Luis Ramicone (Buenos Aires, 1901-1977). Defensa de las libertades, identidad obrera y militancia socialista

Abstract

In 1934, the young socialist deputy Luis Ramicone presented a parliamentary initiative to stop state repression. The proposal was narrowly defeated but managed to get the support of the opposition and part of the ruling alliance against the government's policy. Who was this little-known character, graphic worker and union leader, anarchist, left-wing socialist, and finally anti-Peronist after returning to the Socialist Party? What political, cultural and social trends were expressed in his positions and actions? This work addresses these questions, paying special attention to his intervention in defense of freedoms, which included actions with incidence in his time, independent of the dominant party line and practically unknown by the academic literature. For this I resort to interviews, publications by Ramicone, official, party and union documents, developing a biographical approach that investigates beyond the established figures and the leadership, to approach the ways in which different situations were thought by the socialist activists.
