Resumen: Arsenic is a metalloid of known toxics effects to environment. In the Negro river province is found from natural source like ground waters but there are few publications about the presence and distribution related to anthropogenic or natural inputs. The Negro river has a basin of 140.000 km2. The water crosses by industrial and agricultural zones 969 km, before flowing the Atlantic Ocean. The environmental problems in it basin are basically the discharge of waste waters from industrial zones. The goal of this study was assess the presence, distribution and bioaccumulation in 100 km of coasts that comprise the end of fluvial zone and estuary of Negro river. Samples were collected during spring and summer of 2009. The procedure used for sediment was USEPA 3050, for Corbicula Fluminea, Cyrtograpsus, Neohelice Granulata, was used to Verrengia Guerrero (1993). The Arsenic content on sediments showed significantly differences between sites analyzed, by Tukey test. The stations IDEVI, Patagones and maritime Estuary, had mean levels between 27,2-28,7 µg g-1. This concentrations are highest than the probable effect level for the protection of aquatic life. While the levels of As in sediments of Viedma, Conesa and Zanjón Oyuela were in the range of 3,8-5,2 µg g-1 were below the guideline value and quality of sediment (CCME,2001). Arsenic accumulation in Corbicula from Viedma and Paloma Island (fluvial estuary) in the range of 0,69-0,87 µg g-1 showed significant differences with the youngest mussels of the system Zanjón Oyuela and Conesa (fluvial zone) with levels 0,24 -0,16 µg g-1. Maritime Estuary, IDEVI and Paloma Island crabs showed concentrations were not significant difference, in the range of 0,16-1,71 µg g-1 fresh tissue. The results showed low availability in relation to the sediment load associated presumably electrical conductivity of water and provide a baseline against future monitoring of the system.
