Abstract: This work focuses on describing the main diseases (Bovine respiratory complex, acidosis, tympanism, keratoconjunctivitis and scabies) most prevalent in feedlots.
In some of the establishments located in the Middle Valley, surveyed during the OPP, animals were found that presented signs compatible with some of these pathologies, although there are no regional epidemiological studies that provide support and/or can be used as a reference to describe the degree of incidence of these pathologies in the Middle Valley.
The objectives of feedlots are to obtain a high production of meat per animal, of quality, and with high conversion efficiency (kilograms of food / kilo of meat), which is why we describe each of them, their treatments, prevention, and their productive impact. The arrival of feedlots in Argentina, as well as in other meat-producing countries in the world, has generated new challenges and demands that livestock farming was accustomed to facing. The proposals for pen confinement, accompanied by a greater concentration of livestock, an element that favors the transmission of diseases, as well as the use of different concentrated products and by-products used in food, are the new challenges faced by Veterinary Medicine. This is how, in a generalized context (national/global), most authors agree that respiratory diseases represent around 70% of the cause of mortality, followed by digestive disorders with 7%. To all this, treatments must be added to the production cost, which represents 8%.2024-01-22T00:00:00ZManejo clínico del paciente politraumatizado: revisión bibliográfica y reporte de dos casos clínicos

Abstract: Polytrauma is a serious medical condition that involves injuries to multiple areas of the body due to a traumatic event. The purpose of this report is to provide the necessary and basic knowledge to the veterinarian to improve the clinical management of the patient in an emergency situation. By carrying out a brief bibliographic review, specific terminology, patient selection methods according to the severity of the injuries (Triage) were included; development of the ABCDE protocol, choice of complementary methods and the value of their use and information on the management of cerebro-cardiopulmonary resuscitation. These topics were addressed in order to guarantee comprehensive patient care, which is of great importance for their survival. In addition, two clinical cases were presented, in canine and feline, provided by a private veterinary clinic during an internship, with the purpose of comparing actions that can be carried out in the daily clinic versus other more sophisticated methods that collaborate with performance during emergency care.2024-02-08T00:00:00ZAsma felino: Revisión bibliográfica

Abstract: This work focuses on achieving good management of the neonate and recognizing the weak neonate in order to assist it. It is considered a neonate from birth to 2 weeks of life and is characterized by having physiological immaturity, which is why it has physiological differences with respect to an adult and for this reason it is important to know its management. The first point is primary care for the neonate, drying it, unclogging its airways and stimulating it. Once he is breathing, it is vitally important that he consumes colostrum and begins to monitor the others to identify the weak. Control is mainly based on parameterizing their physiological constants and other parameters such as the hygiene of their environment and their diet. The identification of weak neonates is done using the APGAR system, which evaluates heart rate, respiratory rate, neonatal reflexes, muscle tone and mucosal coloration. Once the weakest are identified, they are given medical assistance to improve their condition. In addition, you should find out if the weakness they present is associated with any disease or pathology and treat it immediately.2023-12-21T00:00:00ZManejo integral de la osteoartritis de cadera en paciente canina geronte

Abstract: Coxofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) is a frequently encountered condition in daily veterinary practice that affects canines of all ages and sizes. It is characterized by being a chronic, progressive condition that induces pain, weakness, and functional physical impairment, significantly impacting the patient's quality of life. OA results from hip dysplasia or mechanical trauma. The objective of this case report is to present a severe case of coxofemoral OA and the outcomes of a comprehensive and multimodal conservative treatment approach, founded on three pillars: analgesia, physiotherapy, and chondroprotection. Chondroprotection was attained through the subcutaneous administration of injectable Artrosan. Multimodal analgesia was managed with a combination of meloxicam, tramadol, and gabapentin or pregabalin at low daily doses. Physiotherapy followed a regimen encompassing short and regular walks, swimming, mobility exercises, massages, and hot/cold therapy. Check-ups every 90 days revealed improvements in pain relief, joint range of motion, positive behavioral changes, and a high level of acceptance of the treatments with no pharmacological adverse effects. In conclusion, it is evident that a conservative and multimodal therapeutic approach, with appropriate monitoring and a focus on animal welfare, is the most effective method for restoring the quality of life in geriatric patients suffering from this condition.2023-11-01T00:00:00ZMastocitoma: La importancia de su diagnóstico

Abstract: The theme that motivates this work is to make known the importance of making a correct
diagnosis of the disease "mastocytoma or mast cell tumor". Understanding what it is, how it is
presented, how it is diagnosed, is essential to be able to choose the most convenient treatment
and to issue a prognosis for each patient. The purpose of the above is to avoid post-surgical
complications that can be recursive (most of the time more aggressive), metastasis and systemic
signs (histamine shock).2023-09-08T00:00:00ZPeritonitis infecciosa felina: revisión bibliográfica y reporte de caso clínico

Abstract: Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a highly significant inmunomediated multisystemic disease in cats due to its high mortality rate, it’s caused by mutation of the feline coronavirus (FCoV). The infection triggers an excessively inflammatory inmune response, resulting in vasculitis and pyogranulomas, affecting various organs, ultimately leading to a severe clinical syndrome.
This final degree project provides a systematic review that highlights general aspects, diagnostic methods, feline management, and therapeutic alternatives for FIP, with a particular emphasis on the current treatment and cure for the disease.
A clinical case is addressed within the framework of the specific literature review on Feline Infectious Peritonitis Virus (FIPV), contributed by a private veterinary clinic, of a 2-month-old female feline who presented with decay, anemia and ascites with a yellowish, proteín peritoneal fluid compatible with FIP wet phase. She was successfully treated with the antiviral GS-441524, demonstrating a high degree of effectiveness and achieving complete cure.2023-09-08T00:00:00ZDiagnóstico microbiológico de las infecciones de tracto urinario (ITU) en caninos y felinos

Abstract: In this final work, a complete and detailed description of the disease called Insulinoma will be presented. Insulinoma is a functional tumor of the pancreatic β cells, characterized by the continuous secretion of insulin, which causes hypoglycemic symptoms and lowers the blood glucose levels in patients. In order to better understand the theoretical framework, a real clinic case of an 8-year-old female canine patient named “Pebeta” will be presented, with compatible symptoms that were eventually diagnosed with the disease Insulinoma. As a complement, information has been gathered to see the prevalence of this disease in the city of Neuquen through several interviews made to veterinary professionals, covering as far as 77,7% of the veterinary clinics in the city.2023-07-27T00:00:00ZAbordaje clínico del paciente canino con hiperadrenocorticismo: reporte de un caso

Abstract: Puerperal hypocalcemia is a metabolic disease of high prevalence in dairy production that significantly affects animal health and farm profitability. Its diagnosis is determined by serology, being an infrequent method due to the need of having a quick and timely result for the adequate treatment and thus avoiding the death of the animal. Bovine puerperal hipocalcemia prevention avoids great productive losses in dairy cattle. Prompt diagnosis and effective treatment achieve optimal postpartum health, improve reproductive efficiency, and increase milk production. The following paper will review the literature and develop the main causes and consequences of "bovine puerperal hypocalcemia in dairy herds", making reference to the different ways in which it negatively impacts cattle, influencing production and generating economic losses.2023-04-20T00:00:00ZConviviendo con un carnívoro

Abstract: In daily clinical care, the appearance of problems related to ultra-processed food components is frequent because the essential ingredients and nutrients only supply a minimum of requirements. It is common for management in these cases to be oriented towards the use of drugs and changes to “medicated” food brands that are not effective in some individuals. The purpose of this final report is to recall the
ancestral origin of the feline species and the principles of its diet, through the review of anatomical, physiological and metabolic characteristics. The data obtained were collected through analysis and reading of research articles, final projects and manuals of food industries. The nutritional requirements of the species are mentioned in terms of food components, differences between amounts consumed with ultra-processed and natural foods, in addition to the organic benefits of the consumption of nutritional supplements that can be used. This report is based on two clinical cases in which the present pathology was treated with dietary changes, naming the variables to be taken into account to carry out a formulation that is functional. Domestic cats are strict carnivores, therefore, the results obtained through the nutritional approach were favorable due to the availability, quality and use of the nutrients offered, however, the schedules and predisposition of the tutors are usually a key limitation.2023-04-20T00:00:00Z
